About This Role:


The CMO Research Associate works directly with a global team of Analysts who research, write, and publish reports analyzing the effect that changing customer behaviors and technology is having on large global companies and their brand. This team specifically focuses on the most pressing issues for today's CMOs and the broader C-suite including strategy, growth, leadership, business and operational practices, consumer behavior, agency partnerships, and marketing innovation. Ideas that are shaped at the collision of culture, consumer, business and brand.




  •  Conduct primary research for published reports, including arranging and participating in interviews with senior-level marketing executives via telephone and online surveys.
  • Conduct secondary research for published reports using industry sources, including competitive assessment and third-party data analysis.
  • Assist analysts with coordinating and conducting interviews with CMOs, senior marketers, vendors and agency leaders.
  • Create graphics for reports and presentations to convey both conceptual analysis and quantitative findings.
  • Maintain report production schedule, from inception through publication.
  • Learn and be responsible for quantitative work with Forrester’s data sets.
  • Maintain reports of team performance, using corporate management tools.
  • Support analysts on the qualitative and quantitative elements of research-based consulting projects, as well as deliverable creation.
  • Support the Research Director in overall management of the team, including organizing team meetings and offsite and performing ad hoc analysis of team performance and industry trends


Sales/marketing support


  • Help the account team understand published reports, including giving short group tutorials on each monthly topic and suggesting appropriate reports for potential clients.
  • Prepare information for the marketing department on upcoming report topics.
  • Act as a liaison between the account team and the CMO research team.
  • Participate in the production and execution of Forrester events, including networking dinners, Forrester Leadership Boards regional meetings, and forums.


  • A./B.S. with a strong academic record; all undergraduate majors are welcome to apply; any quantitative or statistics background is a major plus.
  • An interest in consumer or business buyer behavior, ideally in combination with technology adoption with varied undergraduate or postgraduate work experience.
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet software, and power-point.
  • Creative capabilities to support graphics production for presentations and reports.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a passion to learn about technology and marketing.
